Connectivity : Dedicated Connectivity
Dedicated access is best suited to clients demanding high speeds and reliability at an affordable price. E-Gate offers dedicated services through ISDN, DSL, T1, E10 and E100 connections.
ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network)
ISDN is a symmetrical service, which uses modem over a standard phone line and is offered in speeds of 128Kbps, 192Kbps, and 256Kbps. ISDN is widely available, and requires the purchase of an ISDN line from your local telephone company. ISDN service is slower than DSL in many cases, but as a more mature product it has a higher reliability in many cases and line troubles are typically repaired faster by the Telephone Company. ISDN services can be used as a backup to higher speed connections.
DSL (Digital Subscriber Line)
DSL is an asymmetric service available over your existing telephone line, and is offered in both 3 and 4 Mbps downstream connections, with upstream speeds dependant upon location and line condition. DSL is also available in two flavours: PPPOE and Ethernet PVC . DSL is a consumer service, and is not recommended for mission critical applications. Dynamic, static, and subnet IP addressing options are also available.
High Speed Dedicated Access Connections
T1, E10, and E100 offer highly reliable service, and are appropriate for mission critical and high capacity networks.
T1 is a symmetrical service offering 1.5Mbps connection speeds over a copper line. T1 is widely available, and offers reliable service with quick repair times. With T1, download speeds are slightly slower than DSL, but uploads are faster, making it suitable for businesses or individuals interested in hosting.
E10 / E100
E10 offers 10Mbs or 100Mbs connection speeds over dedicated fiber lines, and are available in major metropolitan areas. E10 / E100 are suitable for mission critical services, and those with demanding hosting requirements. They are also highly expandable.
E-Gate offers wireless access using symmetrical, point to point 3Mbps, 5Mbps, and 10Mbps connections. Ideal as a primary or backup connection, wireless access is currently available in the GTA and Barrie.
